Medical Disabled Adaptations
Currently, within East Lothian, there are grants available from the Council for the purpose of medical disabled adaptations. There is a process to be followed and this starts with an assessment of needs and mobility which is carried out by an Occupational Therapist (OT). You can either self refer by contacting the Social Work Dept on 0845 6031576 or e-mail them on communitycare@eastlothian.gov.uk - or we can do this on your behalf. All grant aided work is means tested.

If it is agreed that an adaptation is required, the case will then be passed to Care & Repair East Lothian.
A Care & Repair Officer will visit to discuss the project and financial situation, and answer any questions. An Architect/Architectural Technologist will be involved to undertake any drawings and a contractor will be appointed following a tendering process.
The types of adaptations we are involved with include bathroom adaptations, extension works, stairlifts and ramps. Click on the relevant section on the right for further information.
